Woman Struck & Killed By Car In Arlington

ARLINGTON (CBS) – Police in Arlington are investigating a crash that killed a 77-year-old woman from Boston.

That woman was near the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Orvis Street around 10 p.m. on Thursday when she was struck by a car.

She was taken to the hospital, where she later passed away. Her identity has not been released.

The driver involved in the crash, 67-year-old Paul Giragosian has been charged with operating without a license and failure to yield to a pedestrian.

Police are continuing to investigate.

Zawaski: Is the Blackhawks-Canucks Rivalry Losing Steam?

(CBS) In the NHL (and most other sports), rivalries are grown and cultivated by playoff series.

Over the past couple of seasons, the Blackhawks and Canucks have managed to avoid each other in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Last season, the Canucks were swept by the San Jose Sharks in the first round. In 2012, the Blackhawks were eliminated in the first round by the Phoenix Coyotes.

Perhaps absence makes the heart grow fonder.

There are a few factors when analyzing why the rivalry may be losing a bit of flair.

Family Raises $45K For Son Of Marshfield Mom Who Died During Childbirth

MARSHFIELD (CBS) – Family members of a Marshfield woman who died last week during childbirth are trying to raise money for her newborn son.

Christie Billodeau Fazio passed away at South Shore Hospital on December 14 from complications following the birth of her son Jonathan.

Jennifer Billodeau, identified by the Patriot Ledger as Fazio’s cousin, set up a GoFundMe campaign, which has already raised more than $45,000.

Fazio, 30, worked as a nurse at South Shore Hospital. Along with her newborn son, she leaves behind her husband John.

“We ask that you donate to this fund in order to help John care for his beautiful baby boy while grieving for the love of his life,” Billodeau wrote on the web page. “As a new father, he will face many challenges in the days ahead and I pray that we may be able to offer some financial relief to lift…
