Illini OC Cubit Gets Extension, Raise

(CBS) If there was one bright spot for the 2013 Illinois football team, it was the offense under the direction of offensive coordinator Bill Cubit.

As such, Illinois awarded Cubit with a one-year extension that will keep him with the team through the 2015 season.

He’ll also receive a raise to $500,000 per season, up from $400,000.

Under Cubit, quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase recorded his best season, throwing for a career-high 3,272 yards 21 touchdowns and completed 67 percent of his passes.

“I’m very excited to be able to continue what we began building this past season,” Cubit said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to a lot of success next season. We have a very good core group of linemen, tight ends and running backs returning, and a talented and deep group of quarterbacks to start with.
