BOSTON (CBS) — A man who suffered severe shrapnel and burn injuries in the Boston Marathon bombings says his recovery led him to the love of his life.
Now, James “Bim” Costello of Malden is engaged to be married.
Costello and bride-to-be Krista D’Agostino are on a 10-day cruise for marathon bombing survivors and first responders.
Costello met D’Agostino, at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, where he transferred after multiple surgeries immediately following the April bombing.
It was there, he struck up a conversation with nurse D’Agostino and it wasn’t long until the two were inseparable.
More than a hundred survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings, along with family members and first responders, left Boston’s Logan airport last week on the all-expenses-paid to the south of France.
