Police Standoff Ends In Juniata Park

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A police standoff has come to an end with the arrest of a suspect who fired shots at Philadelphia police officers early Wednesday morning.

The incident started at about 6 a.m. in the 500 block of E. Courtland Street in the city’s Juniata Park section.

According to investigators, the incident began when officers were called to the home for an apparent domestic dispute.

When officers arrived, they spotted the male suspect on the porch of the home.

“When they tried to apprehend the male, he slammed the door shut on them. There were shots fired at the officers. They very wisely declared a barricade situation and contained the property front and rear,” Chief Inspector Joe Sullivan explained.

Whitaker Avenue was blocked off and police put the neighborhood on lock down.
