A gunman opened fire in a Brooklyn apartment just after midnight Monday, killing three and then himself in what police say was a murder-suicide.
Raefe Ahkbar entered an apartment in the East Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, shot and killed two men on the first floor and one on the third with an assault rifle, authorities say. The gunman then shot and killed himself on the roof. At least one male survived, a 22-year-old unidentified man who was taken to Elmhurst Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right arm, the New York Timesreports.
The victims were members of a band, The Yellow Dogs, described on their Twitter page as a “post punk/dance punk band from Tehran/Iran, living in Brooklyn at the moment.” Ahkbar was kicked out of the band recently for selling its equipment, officials said.
